The Massage Therapy Industry

Massage Therapists Membership

I am really concerned at the number of massage therapists who let their membership to the massage association lapse and in doing this they also let their public liability insurance lapse.

THIS IS A SERIOUS RISK that is not worth taking, especially in today’s society where you get sued for anything & everything. I recently attended a meeting with about 26 massage therapists and was staggered to learn most of them were not insured. It is like house insurance most of us never claim, but there are people who do have their houses burn down.

Could this happen to you? Yes it just might and it only needs to happen once to ruin you financially, no matter how careful you are. Imagine giving someone a gentle relaxing massage, you leave the room so they can get dressed, they sit up too quickly, their blood pressure drops & so do they hitting their head on the way down, or you press against a damaged nerve, or hairline fracture that neither them or you were aware of, accident yes, will they sue you? Possibly. Please don't do another massage without your massage association membership & your public liability insurance it is not worth it.

I would like to know why so many do not renew either membership or insurance. If you have a valid reason please let me know, as I would like to help you. We know there are many who do not continue in massage therapy, but we also know there are far too many practicing without either and we want to encourage you to do something about it before you get yourself into serious trouble, as I mentioned in my last article there are more people putting in claims against massage therapists than one would think.

If you have recently let these lapse I would love to hear from you the reasons; Perhaps you don't think the association does anything for you; Perhaps you think because your massage therapy is very gentle or you don't do that many you don't need insurance.

Please massage therapists don't go another day without either. Be both professional as well as have the peace of mind should there be an adverse reaction to one of your massages.
